This image was photographed near Red Rock State Park in Sedona. The rock formation is the back is called Cathedral Rock,sometimes called "Court House Rock," is a well known landmark in the Sedona, Arizona. It is considered part of the skyline and one of the most-photographed views in Arizona. Located in the Coconino National Forest in Yavapai County, the summit elevation is 4,967 feet. Geologically, it is carved from the Permian Schnebly Hill formation, a redbed sandstone. Ripple marks are prominent along the lower portion of Cathedral Rock and a black basalt dike may be seen in the first saddle.
There is something fulfilling about capturing a moment in time�particularly as the sun makes its first or last appearance. My photographic work reflects an affinity for movement and sound; the latter reminiscent of a song, starting calmly, building strength, power and energy, until the shutter releases and the image is recorded as the ultimate crescendo. While I am mostly drawn to the grand landscape, my portfolio includes macro, still life and abstract work as well, showcasing a relationship between color and light.
