The Grand Canyon National Park is located in Arizona and was carved out millions of years ago. The layers of red rock are revealed at the sun rises in the east. This viewpoint is called Yavapai and was a backdrop to an amazing sunrise over the canyon. The canyon is carved out by the colorado river, is over a mile deep and 17 miles long. This photograph was shot with a camera sensitive to the infrared spectrum of light and then converted back to a color image.
